Hi Dick,
Still in
Livingstone, going to Lusaka this afternoon. You should have received a
fwd from Phyllis about the conference. It went very well, lots of
positive response to the teaching -- they want me back next year. One
pastor said, "He didn't mesmerize us, but he certainly did teach us. You
can't argue with anything he said or you would be arguing with the
Bible."
The man
who organized the conference said that one unusual thing about this
conference was that it kept increasing in numbers every day, the
opposite of what usual happens. People were going home and calling
others to tell them about what they were hearing and they just kept
coming. So we started out with about 150 and ended up with perhaps
250-300. They are glad to have the doctrinal booklets we printed.
The
schedule is demanding with 5 hours of teaching every day, but the Lord
is gracious and has given strength. My voice is a bit strained, but not
a problem. I still have five days of teaching to go.
Ukraine
will celebrate Easter per the Orthodox calendar which puts it on the
last Sunday of this month. But with their curious laws regarding
holidays falling on weekends and their penchant for taking off as much
time as possible, they tell me that businesses will be shut down for 9
days starting on the 26th. Jack and Gift send their greetings. Stewart
is supposed to be at the conference in Lusaka, and Jack says that the
tape fiasco should be cleared up very soon and without our having to pay
any charges.
Zambian
National Breakfast every day --- ughhh.
(Fried eggs, uncured bacon, baked beans, and toast)
